Google Apps Script developer

Apps Script is the JavaScript that lives inside Google Workspace. With it, a spreadsheet can send email, file documents in Drive, book calendar events, call outside APIs and run on a schedule while nobody has it open. I write it, test it on a copy of your data and hand you code you own.

What I build

Each project is scoped to your sheet. These are the pieces I build most often.

Custom menus and sidebars

A menu in your sheet's toolbar that runs a job with one click, or a sidebar form for entering records the right way every time.

Time-driven and event triggers

Jobs that run every night, every hour or the moment a form comes in, a cell changes or a file lands in a folder.

Custom functions

Your own formulas, like =SHIPPING_COST(B2) or =NEXT_OPEN_SLOT(), for the logic built-in functions can't express.

Document generation

Invoices, contracts, certificates and reports filled from sheet rows into Google Docs or PDF, named and filed in the right Drive folder.

API connections

UrlFetchApp calls to Stripe, QuickBooks, Square, Shopify or any service with a REST API, with OAuth where the service needs it.

Batch jobs that finish

Long jobs split into chunks that pick up where they left off, so they stay under Apps Script's six-minute limit per run.

What it looks like in practice

A camp director gets a form submission. The script adds the camper to the right session tab, checks the session isn't full, emails a confirmation with a payment link, puts the week on the family's shared calendar and updates the headcount on the dashboard. Nobody touched anything.

Questions about apps script development

Do I need a paid Google Workspace account?

No. Apps Script runs on free Gmail accounts too. Workspace accounts get higher daily limits (for example 1,500 email recipients a day instead of 100), so for heavier work I'll tell you up front if your account's limits will matter.

Who owns the code?

You do. It lives in your Google account, attached to your sheet or as a standalone project. I comment it so the next person, or you, can follow it.

Can you fix a script someone else wrote?

Yes. Most of my first look is reading what's there, finding why it breaks and deciding whether to repair it or rewrite the part that fails.

Will it keep working if I'm not paying you every month?

Yes. There's no service of mine in the middle. If Google changes something years from now, you can hire me or anyone who knows Apps Script to adjust it.

A few sentences is enough to start. I'll reply with questions, then a plan and a fixed quote.
